Football scrimmages Friday

ccitylinemenWOLVES

The Colorado City Wolves are midway through their second week of pre-season camp and new head football coach Dan Gainey remain positive about the team’s progress.
“We are running good routes, we are catching the ball well and have good running backs, but our line is yong and we’re bringing them along slowly,” Gainey said. “Our kids continue to play hard and defensively we’re teaching new techniques, which is going to take some time,” he continued.
The Wolves are preparing for their first scrimmage Friday night against Albany, a perennial Class A top 10 team.

The scrimmage will start at 6 p.m. in Albany with the JV, followed by the varsity. “It will be a good test for us,” Gainey said.
The Wolves open the 2013 season August 30th at Wolf Stadium against Breckenridge.

BULLDOGS

The Loraine Bulldogs will face off with the Graden City BearKats Friday in Loraine for both teams’ first scrimmage of the 2013 season.
Second year head coach Kyle Hauk said earlier this week that “practice is going alright.”
“We’re just working on some fundamentals and trying to stay cool,” Hauk said.
The Bulldogs had 14 kids come and a junior varsity schedule is still being talked about.
Start time Friday night is at 6 p.m.

WILDCATS

Westbrook will host a three-way scrimmage Friday night with Highland and Jayton.
Wildcat Coach Randall Petty is pleased with the young Wildcats’ progress so far during pre-season camp.
“Since we’ve been in pads, things have been going good,” Petty said. “Thing are coming together for us.”
The Wildcats will have a junior varsity squad this season. Friday’s action gets underway at Wildcat Stadium at 6 p.m.
