Boys Scouts to celebrate 100 years
The Boy Scouts Buffalo Trail Council will launch its 100th anniversary celebration February 5-8.
Weekend activities begin at 7 p.m. and will provide reflection on scouting and its strong tie into American History and the Permian Basin.
The weekend is community-wide and is open to scouts and scouters.
The celebration begins with the Jackalopes Hockey game at 7 p.m.. The Cub Scouts will have a Pushmobile Race on Ice during intermission. Tickets are available through the Jackalopes or from the Midland Boy Scout office.
Activities will also include a Ten Commandments Hike from church to church in downtown Midland and Odessa, about a two mile hike; old flags will be retired at the Veteran's Park (near CAF) and a time capsule, buried in 1985 to commemorate 75 years of Scouting, will be opened. A new time capsule will be buried to be opened in 2035 for the 125th anniversary.
