Officials from Texas Tech University Center in Abilene will announce a new graduate certificate program in wind energy at a news conference on February 9 at the center located at 302 Pine Street.

The new graduate certificate program will include 15 hours of graduate-level coursework delivered through state-of-the-art distance education technology.

Students participating in the program may choose either the technical or the managerial track. The technical track is calculus- and physics-based and focuses on the technical aspects of the growing wind energy field, according to a Texas Tech news release.  The managerial track is more interdisciplinary and focuses on the administrative and managerial aspects of the field.

Students who are part of a new academy funded Gate Foundations' New Technology Fund will receive a talk on wind engineering opportunities.  The students are involved in a project-based learning experience called the Academy for Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Science and is based at the Texas Tech University Center in Abilene.
