Glenda Prater
1941-2010

OKLAHOMA -- Glenda Prater, age 69, of Hugo, Oklahoma, passed away January 18, 2010.

Survivors are her husband, Don Prater; one son, Leland Cox of Powderly, Texas; three daughters, Anita Lyles of Caviness, Texas, Jeanne Scott of Soper, Oklahoma, and Donna Lindley of McAlister, Oklahoma; one brother, William Smith of Dallas; two sisters, Ann Hallmark, of Loraine, and Evelyn Hadley of Paris, Texas. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, a grandson, and her first husband, Buddy Cox.

Services will be Wednesday, January 20, at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Elsie (Holmes) Hairston
1917-2010

MIDLAND- Elsie (Holmes) Hairston, 92, a longtime resident of China Grove, died Monday in a Midland care center.  Funeral services for Mrs. Hairston will be at 2pm Thursday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Chapel with Mr. Roy Rosson, minister of the Dunn Church of Christ, officiating.

Mrs. Hairston was born on December 8, 1917 in Mason County, Texas to the late Tom and Bessie Wood Holmes.  She grew up in the Dunn Community and was a lifelong member of the Dunn Church of Christ.

She was married to William M “Bill” Hairston on August 16, 1939 in Dunn.  He preceded her in death on January 31, 2008.  They were married for 69 years and lived in the China Grove community.
Mrs. Hairston is survived by one daughter, Linda Ingle of Midland; one son Don Hairston and wife, Karen of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Jon Ingle and wife Ronda of Lubbock; Rob Ingle and wife Angie of Midland; Jennifer Hairston of Dallas, Blair Hairston Cornett and husband Ben of Gainesville, FL; and three great grandchildren, Turner and Paige Ingle of Midland and Benjamin “Cole” Cornett, Jr. of Gainesville, FL.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded by both parents, one sister, Bertha Cotton; three brothers, Carl, Mark and Hilmer Holmes and one son-in-law, Sam Ingle.

Friends may contribute to the Dunn Cemetery Association, Hospice of Midland or the Manor Park Retirement Center of Midland.

Larry Beavers
1949-2009

LUBBOCK – Mr. Larry Beavers, age 60, of Lubbock and formerly of Colorado City, died Sunday January 17, 2010 in a Lubbock hospital. His body is being cremated and family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 in the Kiker-Seale Chapel with Father Edson Way, PhD, officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Mr. Beavers was born August 23, 1949 in Paducah, Texas to James (Jack) and Melba Harrison Beavers. He married Sally Kay Pritchett on July 18, 1971 in Colorado City. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2007. He married Donna Mize on October 3, 2009. He was a graduate of Western Texas College with an associate in diesel mechanics and additional teacher certification credits. He was also a tax preparer, a former member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church in Lubbock, Texas, a member Solos Square Dance Club, the National Ranching Heritage Center where he volunteered as a ranch host and performed on the dance team. He was a veteran of the US Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Beavers of Lubbock; mother, Melba Beavers of Coleman; two sons, James Corey and wife, Kayla Ann Beavers and Jody Lynn and wife, Mandy Lynn Beavers, all of Colorado City; grandchildren,  Trey Matthew Lynn Beavers and Sally Ann Beavers, both of Colorado City; a brother, Barry Beavers of Coleman; and a sister, Shelly Beavers of Coleman.
He is also preceded in death by his father and a sister, Cheryl Bell.
