R.J. Hoback
1922-2010
COLORADO CITY – Mr. R. J. Hoback, age 87, of Colorado City, died Sunday, February 7, 2009, in a Midland hospital. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Colorado City Cemetery with Rev. Monte Wike officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Hoback was born August 23, 1922, in Centerton, Arkansas, to Roy and Beulah Austin Hoback and had been a resident of Colorado City since 1947. He married Nell Thomas on June 1, 1950, in Colorado City. He was the former owner of Colorado Feed and Seed, a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank in Colorado City, a member of the First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Hoback of Colorado City; a daughter, Ann Krischke of Dallas; a son, Robert and wife, Cherry of Colorado City; three grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Audra Hoback of Colorado City, Andrea and husband, Sterling Burleson of Waco and SGT Chad Krischke of Jacksonville, NC; a great-grandson, Caul J Hoback of Colorado City; and a sister-in-law, Christine Mearse of Loraine.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Hoback.
Eva “Bebe” Galey-Webb
1925-2010
ODESSA – Eva “Bebe” Galey-Webb passed away Thursday, January 15, 2010.
Bebe was born in the Buford community on March 29, 1925, outside Colorado City to Ilus Kay Galey and Stella Williamson.
Eva married Owen J. Webb in Colorado City on November 3, 1943. They moved to Odessa from Artesia, New Mexico, in 1952. She was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church in Odessa. She loved to grow roses and enjoyed working in her yard and garden.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, J.L. Galey, I.K. Galey Jr.; two sisters, Macy Galey-Magee and Floy Galey-Padgett; and her granddaughter, Amy Kay McGee.
She is survived by her husband, Owen J. Webb; son, Larry G. Webb and wife, Elizabeth of Georgetown; daughter, Kay Webb-McGee of Enola, Arkansas; a nephew, William “Bill” Magee of Odessa; her granddaughter, Julie McGee Riddle of Odessa, Holly C. McGee of Enola, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Martin and MacAlister Len Riddle. She is also survived by a brother, William R. Galey and wife, Margaret of Boise, Idaho; sister, Lilian Thomas of Midland; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
George Sanchez
1931-2010
LORAINE – Mr. George Sanchez, age 78, of Loraine, died Saturday night in Mitchell County Hospital. Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial followed in the Loraine Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Sanchez was born November 17, 1931, in Loraine to Jose and Maria Esquivel Sanchez and had been a lifelong resident. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Acme Bridge Company in New Braunfels. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Loraine and a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Sanchez of Loraine; five sisters, Martha Salinas, Beda Castro, Minnie Aguilar and Epifinia Garza, all of Loraine and Leonore Badillo of Abilene; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Tino Sanchez, Estanislado Sanchez and one sister, Jesusita Badillo.
